Diary Monday June 1st 2026

Bad start to the day with a very leaky stoma, and mild vomiting. Just had a few slices of toast which I coped with OK.


I had multiple parcel deliveries, mainly new shower equipment, as my old shower curtain and shower head unit were worn out. Tesco food delivery later on in the day.

Diary Tuesday June 2nd 2026


Felt much better health wise today.


More Amazon deliveries, mostly a new duvet and covers for it. Both sadly failed to arrive. The Duvet listed kept promising to be on the way through tracking, right up to 10pm when it suddenly said it now can’t be delivered until up to the 6th of June. Suddenly next day delivery randomly becomes 6 day delivery, and why was I being told it had been collected from the depot and shown a moving graph indicating how much nearer it was to my house? The delivery promises were fictitious. The promise of next day delivery is just a hook to get you to buy. It might or might not happen. Never depend on it. Like the pirate code, Amazon see it as ‘Guidelines’.


The delivery cover situation was even worse. They sent me a message to say it was here, and I’d find it outside the flat in the porch. I wondered why they hadn’t bothered ringing the doorbell. I went downstairs to the block entrance (I have a first floor flat in a block of six bedsit apartments) to see nothing resembling a parcel. I checked the bushes, round the cars and bins and entrances to neighbouring flats before contacting Amazon who cancelled and refunded my order. Ordered a similar item through E-bay.


Diary Wednesday June 3rd 2026


Some delivery items from Amazon and Ebay turned up just fine today after yesterday’s fiascos.


I wrote two short stories back to back today. I saw a competition asking for 500 word stories on the theme of Recipes so I wrote one, only to find I couldn’t do it in less that 750 words so I somehow came up with a second completely different one that was within the word length and sent that off to the online publisher.

Pub quiz night at the above mentioned Vinyl Tap. Our team came in second, though were awarded a Motorhead rock band themed beer glass and rubber bar-beer soak (I got to keep the latter as I already have plenty of glass-wear and little room for more).


This was a very productive week for me as a writer with multiple poems and stories turned out, at least in first draught form, and some work on my pub sign studies too.


Saturday 6th June 2026


I had hoped to go and see the Jazz In The Park events in the city’s Winkley Square but my monthly visit to the laundrette’s too much longer than usual as there was a massive queue for the machines and dryers.

Sunday 7th June 2026


I attended and participated in the S Werd spoken word open Mic show hosted by the awesome Becca Sharples today at the Vinyl Tap bar. Many great poets and birthday cake provided by Becca for one of the performers was shared with all.


One of my poems and a coincidental sighting of characters related to to it are included here. Big thanks to Becca, the staff of Vinyl Tap and my friend Paul for today.

Monday 8th June 2026


My long overdue next batch of stoma bags finally arrived today, which was a relief as very close to exhausting my supply.
