Writing catch up days.


Tuesday 21st July 2026 - Home Invasion Incident.


Terrifying start to the day. I had an intruder at 7am this morning. A guy looking stoned out of his head casually walked into my flat (I usually leave the door unlocked when I'm in as it's easier to get out in an emergency). He walked right by my bed (it was daylight by then) and started heading for the toilet - I had to demand three times that he tell me why he was there and get the Hell out (with a few swearwords too). He said he thought it was the toilet block and shuffled out.  Later found out he is staying with his sister in the flat opposite mine. She thinks because he said sorry it suffices. I told them both it takes more than apology to 'mistake' a completely separate flat across a corridor for the toilets especially when you walk right by a bed with someone in it to get there.  His sister called round later and told me that by not accepting his apology, I upset him so much his Mum is coming to take him home. This isn't a 7 year old but a man in his twenties.  Told her the truth, 'Good! I really don't care.'  Scared me to death having someone so casually invade my space.


As of this incident I lock the door when I am in the flat, not just when I go out.

Wednesday 22nd July 2026


Quiz night at Vinyl Tap, and after the team I was one was running in last place after the first half, we recovered enough to finish third by the end of the quiz, which was great fun and after the tensions yesterday, most welcome.


Thursday 23thJuly 2026


Visited by the partner of the sister of Tuesday’s home intruder, inviting me to have some food (some kind of pasta bake), they had made as a peace offering. I politely declined the invitation. I would not feel comfortable with these people after the incident in my flat.

I went to the Samaritan’s Big Busk music event with various musicians playing in Preston City Centre to raise money for The Samaritans and promote their services. As I know the organizers and quite a lot of the performers I went along to watch. On the way I called in the post office to send the old computer router back to my service provider as they sent me a new one. They were covering the postage, so I just had to drop it off at the post office. Getting my phone to present them with the QR code for an address label pring out was really awkward.


The busk itself was great, and I met with several friends, one of who treated me to a drink in a nearby cafe and later I had a pint in the Market Tavern pub which the buskers were performing right outside Great to see that over £700 was raised for the Samaritans, In previous years I have stayed right through the whole show but I was going to see the new Odyssey movie at the nearby cinema so I missed the last few performers.

Saturday 25th July 2026


Mark Slater, a friend from Manchester, was giving away some of his old phones, including one with an answering machine, which my own landline phone lacks, so I asked if I could claim one of the phones he was getting rid of and it arrived today. Setting it up was surprisingly straight forward. Cheers to Mark.

Ended the week as it started with writing up on my adventures and other creative waffle.
